What is going on with UAAP?? Learn about the latest controversy involving swimming and the University Athletic Association of the Philippines UAAP. Listen to the story of 19-year old University of the Philippines student Ma. Claire Adorna and how the UAAP was barring her from swimming in the Universiade in Kazan, Russia and from the UAAP Swimming Championship last September 19 in Laguna.
Despite the UAAP’s harassment, Claire, with the help of friends and supporters, was eventually able to compete in the September 19 UAAP swim meet, where she won FOUR gold medals, TWO silver medals, and set TWO new UAAP records for the fastest times in the 400-meter freestyle and 200-meter backstroke. Claire is the current record holder for the women's 100-meter and 50-meter backstroke.
