Si Uncle Peping tinatarget din ang FESSAP!?
By: Jerry Yap
Olympic Czar.
Ayaw kasing i-recognize ng Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) ang Federation of School Sports Association of the
bansa.”
Sabi nga ni David Ong, “The FESSAP is strongly committed to the development of youth sports in the country.”

September 10, 2012 UCAA Finals
It's Patriots vs Sea Lions for cage crown
Game Tomorrow
(Game-1 at the Olivarez College gymnasium, Sucat, Paranaque)
1 p.m. Olivarez College vs DLSU-Dasmarinas
DASMARINAS, Cavite-
The La Salle-Dasmarinas Patriots are back in the finals.
The Patriots earned a return trip to the finals yesterday after a seven-year wait in the 11th Universities and Colleges Athletic Association (UCAA) men’s basketball
tournament.
They relied on a big scoring run in the endgame to finish off the Manuel L. Quezon University Stallions, 79-68, in their stepladder semifinal showdown at the Ugnayang La Salle gymnasium in Dasmarinas, Cavite.
Lloyd Pono banged in 20 points, including one of three crucial triples during a crucial six-minute stretch in the last period that keyed the win for the Patriots in this cagefest supported by Mikasa and Molten Balls.
Pono scored his trey after a split free throw from teammate Jeff Manuel shattered a 60-all deadlock, giving La Salle a 64-60 lead, before two more triples from Jeoffrey Acain and Clifford Castro from a 10-3 run allowed the Patriots to gain a 74-63 cushion in the remaining 1:45.
Acain shot 16 points, while Manuel had 12. K-Boy Torres tallied 10.
Roland Dulalia and Leonard Tamayo topscored with 15 and 14 points, respectively, for the Stallions, who eventually settled for third place.
The Patriots, who fought for the crown against 2005 champion, Emilio Aguinaldo College Generals, will have a best-of-three title series with the Olivarez College Sea Lions starting on Wednesday, 1 p.m. at the Olivarez College gymnasium in Sucat, Paranaque.
Torres, who is on his second year as coach, said this is big achievement for the team after placing last the previous season.
The Stallions, who were ahead, 36-32, at halftime, took charge in the third behind an 11-5 run, which gave them a 48-37 spread.
But the Patriots eventually caught up with them at 58-all at the start of the fourth, using a scoring binge triggered by Acain’s trey.
Sea Lions bag UCAA cage crown

DASMARINAS, Cavite—The Olivarez College Sea Lions needed a few Hail Marys, big baskets from Johnny Jasmin and four overtime periods to fend off the La Salle-Dasmarinas Patriots, 103-101, in Game 2 of their best-of-three finals series last Friday.
Visibly tired and drained from the Patriots’ relentless defense, the Patriots went on to claim their first-ever cage crown in the 11th Universities and
Colleges Athletic Association (UCAA) men’s basketball tournament.
The 6’2" Jasmin, who plays for Café France in the D-League, struck with a putback in the last 17.9 seconds and scored what turned out to be the winning basket at the Patriots’ home turf at the Ugnayang La Salle gymnasium here. Jasmin showed the way for the Sea Lions with 24 points, including six points in the fourth extension period to lead the Sucat-based cagers to a two-game sweep of their championship showdown.
They earlier took Game 1 with a 67-62 win over the Patriots. The Sea Lions, who finished runner-up to the Philippine School of Business Administration Jaguars last season, were unable to stop Patriots' cager Kevin Torres from attempting for a triple as time expired. Unfortunately for the Patriots, Torres missed and failed to send the game into a fifth overtime or give his team a title after a seven-year wait in this cagefest supported by Mikasa and Molten Balls. Franklin Mancio and Most Valuable Player John Flores contributed 16 points for the Sea Lions, while Eldridge Corpus chipped in 12. With top school official Dr. Pablo Olivarez watching from the sidelines, the 23-year-old Jasmin, a hotel and management student, scored on a miss by Ardie Dizon. His basket came right after Patriots cager Clifford Castro tied the count for the last time at 101-all and with 40.9 ticks to go.
Castro led the Patriots with 19 points, while Jeff Manuel and Jeffrey Acain made 15 and 11 points, respectively.
After BJ Faundo split his charity in the last 2:13 of the third overtime period, and with the count at 91-all, the Patriots kept the Sea Lions scoreless in the remaining time, with John Corneh running out of time as he went for a fastbreak play.
“Sobrang nakakapagod ang game na ito. But, at least it treated supporters of Olivarez College and La Salle-Dasma to a very good game. Sa huli, wala na kaming game plan. Nagdasal na lang kami after the third overtime. Naging positive ang nangyari. This is our birthday gift to Dr. Olivarez," said Sea Lions coach Michael Saguiguit.
Earlier, Jasmin sent the contest into its first overtime with a jumper with 26.5 seconds left, 73-all, after Patriots cager Jeffrey Acain’s attempt got swiped at endgame by Faundo.
Patriots bet Jeff Manuel sent the match into a second overtime with a charity with 11.3 ticks to go, 78-all.
The game went into a third overtime w hen Sea Lion Mancio converted on a pass by Corpus in the last 10.2 seconds for an 84-all count and Acain missed a trey at the buzzer.
