The 7th World University Cycling Championship (WUCC) will be held in Tagaytay City, Philippines from March 16 to 20, 2016.

STUDENT CYCLIST CLASH IN FESSAP-WORLD UNIVERSITY QUALIFIER
University athletes from around the country have been invited to take part in the Philippine Collegiate Cycling Championship that serves as the Federation of School Sports Association of the Philippines (FESSAP) qualifying tournaments to the 6th World University Cycling
Championship to be hosted by the Philippines from March 16 -20 next year.
“Preparation for the qualifying event are in full swing,” said overall chair Christian Tan, the FESSAP’s cycling association head. "The FESSAP will strictly enforce the requirements in strict compliance to the guidelines set forth by the International University Sports Federation (FISU).
“The winners in the qualifier will thus be named to Team Philippines that will see action in the 6th WUCC.”
According to Tan, the team will be represented by six riders for the road race competitions and another six for the Mountain Bike (MTB).
The FISU is the sanctioning body that organizes the Summer Universiade, Winter Universiade and the various World University Championships in the different sports involving prominent university athletes from around the globe, including some Olympic veterans
The FESSAP is the official national university sports association recognized by the FISU.
A pair of FISU officials led by Paulo Ferreira and Luis Miguel Loureiro visited Manila in mid-April to conduct an ocular inspection of the cycling road race routes in Tagaytay City, the site of the 6th WUCC.
In addition to the World University Cycling Championship, the FESSAP is also sending delegation to the 1st Asian University Road Cycling Championship in Chang-Nyeong, Korea from July 24-25 this year. Rules call for athletes, aged 18 to 26 (Athletes must be born between 01 January 1987 and 31 December 1997), to be enrolled in a college or university in a country that they represent.
FESSAP, in cooperation with the Philippine Collegiate Cycling Association (PCCA), intends to send an eight-man team to represent the Philippines in the Asian tournament.
Biking participants in the student cycling qualifier will face an elite group of cyclists from the Philippine Collegiate Cycling Association for the right to represent the Philippine colors in Korea. According to Armando “Manding” Bautista, FESSAP Technical Consultant.
Among the winners in the various nationwide qualifying races already conducted by the FESSAP include Aron Paul Quintia, a 21-years-old student from Lyceum University of the Philippines-Alabang who topped the Carmona Day Bike Challenge sponsored by Hon mayor Dahlia Loyola last February 19; Gerald Valdez, the 26-years-old son of former Tour Champion Placido who won the Nueva Ecija Bike challenge and placed second in the Tour of Cagayan event; IAN Gabriel Torres, an 18-years-old Dentistry student from the University of the East who won in a Bicol Bike Challenge conducted by Vice Mayor Juancho Ramores, himself a former Tour Champion; and James R Soriano Jr., a 19-years-old student from CAVSU who topped the Tanza (Cavite) Bike Challenge.
FESSAP-sanctioned collegiate cycling qualifying tournaments will soon be held in various parts of Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. (gcl)

The Philippine Collegiate Cycling Association (PHILCOCA) will soon launch an organizational meeting with the objective of selecting the best university athletes to represent the Federation of School Sports Association of the Philippines (FESSAP) in international competitions such as the Summer Universiade, World University Championship and Asian University Championship.
The FESSAP, the sole national university sports association recognized by the International University Sports Federation (FISU), is calling the various university leagues affiliated with the FESSAP such as the State Colleges Universities Athletic Association (SCUAA), Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc (CESAFI) and NCRAA and schools like Letran, Philippine Christian University, Polytechnic University of the Philippines and Technological University of the Philippines, University of the East, Far Eastern University and Roosevelt College and others colleges from Bicol and Baguio to taken part in the nationwide search.
Interested parties may contact the PHILCOCA secretariat at the TUP campus in San Marcelino Avenue, Manila and look for Director Professor Robert Milton Calo, the FESSAP executive vice president, or e-mail their registration forms through Armando Bautista at [email protected].
The proposed cycling competition includes veledrome, National Student Criterium and Major Tour during summer.
The PHILCOCA has been accredited association as FESSAP for cycling since 2012.

Nagawang iwanan ni Trishia Baranda ang kanyang mga katungali na sina Baby senio at May Vonalosa , pumgalawa at pangatlo ayon sa pagkakasunod sa isinagawang karerang bisekleta dito sa bayan ng Carmona Cavite dito sa Pasong Buhabgin at Davilan.
Naorasan si Baranda ng 1Hr 20: 15 segundo para sa distasyang 25 kilometro MTB course na may tinawid na ilog at inakyat na bundok na inihanda ng Road Bikers of Carmona ( ROBIC ) at sinuportahan ng mag asawang Mayor Dahlia at Cong Roy Loyola sa bayang ito ng Carmona.
