Philippine delegation is headed by Graham C. Lim as Head of Delegation with Mr. Lorenzo C. Sy as Team Leader and Mr. Felix O. Tiukinhoy Jr., president of Cebu Weightlifting Association Inc., as Team Official.
Athletes are Rue Collen Pabuaya and Evan Philip Catingub, both from the University of Cebu.
Pabuaya will compete in the 69 kilogram of Clean & Jerk, and Snatch events, while his teammate Catingub in 85 kilogram weight, also in Clean & Jerk, and Snatch events.
Head Coach is Mr. Gary C. Hortelano.
Cebu Weightlifting Association (CWA) is an affiliated association with the Federation of School Sports Association of the Philippines (FESSAP) who was tasked to handled the weightlifting qualifying championships and nationwide program of FESSAP. CWA Chairman is led by Atty. Baldomero C. Estenzo, Dean of Law of the University of Cebu.
The trip is in cooperation with Cebu City Sports Commission under the Office of Mayor Michael Rama in partnership with the FESSAP being headed by its President David U. Ong.
The History of Weightlifting in FISU
Weightlifting entered the programme of the FISU World University Championships in 2008 with a first edition organised in Komotini (GRE), which welcomed 159 weightlifters from 32 countries.
Since then, two other editions were attributed on two continents, and each attracted around 100 participants . The 3rd World University Weightlifting Championship will take place in Eilat (ISR) in 2012.
FISU RegulationsThe weightlifting competitions will be organised in accordance with the most recent technical regulations of the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF). In any dispute, the English text will be regarded as authoritative. The programme and duration of the competitions are fixed by the Executive Committee in agreement with the Organising Committee and the CTI. The competitions will last four (4) days and will include:
Men: 56kg, 62kg, 69kg, 77kg, 85kg, 94kg, 105kg,+105kg
Women: 48kg, 53kg, 58kg, 63kg, 69kg, 75kg, +75kg
