The untimely departure of Antonio "LOY” Cruz, who was 68 years old only (born July 23, 1946), a shocking news from many of our friends in the sports circle.
A former PACA President, chairman of PHILYCLING, “LOY” as he was called by many, died of stage 4 Cancer last November 20, but the sudden departure gave me some time to look back of our past relationship while he served as the Philippines’ Philippines Amateur Cycling (PACA) and Chairman of the Integrated Cycling Federation of the Philippines (PHICYCLING).
Loy is known as an athletic type person regularly work out like BIKING at the eliptical circle to keeps himself fit. He is known for joking ability, whether in- and- out of cycling, there are times, he cracks practical jokes, putting a “ panutsa” on the crack wheel of his friend’s bike, like buying all the vendors merchandise, yun buong laman ng balut basket, bibilin, at ipamimigay lang, maski anuman ito, fruits, vegatables, fishes, etc.. he will buy it for the heck of giving it to his friends.
He used to have a regular race competition at the elliptical circle, normally, prizes comes from the sponsors, “ sa kanya hindi’ galling ito sa bulsa ng magkakapatid na Cruz brothers, Boy, Jun, Lando, and Ricky-( Imelda and Adelina Cruz) the recently concluded “ Fil-Am Grand Prix”
Since timing is an essence to be concerned while we were still preparing for the 6th World University Cycling Championship, to put everything in proper prospective and will ask Loy to lead for us in this WUC championship program.
We are all sadden of the outcome of this untimely death, I even ask his brothers, about his status, a week before his sudden departure, we surely understand that God has a reason for taking Loy early, and I hope Loy is in God’s hand and may rest in peace.
My deepest condolences to his wife Teresita “Baby” revilla, Cruz and his 4 children, Mischelle, Jenifer, Tambi and Peter.
Libing na nya Bukas- Lahat ng gusting maki paglibing-pumunta sa WESCOR 1:00 PM
I will really miss you, President, Chairman “ Loy Cruz”. Goodbye my friend and comrade!
