Robert Calo (left) with former FISU President George Killian who help FESSAP to entry to FISU in 2007. Merry Christmas, my dear old friend Robert.
As I look back on our journey together, I am filled with gratitude for the three decades of partnership we have shared commonly. From the very first inaugural championship — the 1st Philippine University Games in 2007, the first Asia Pacific University Games, the first Philippine University Volleyball League and Basketball League, where we stood side by side making history, to our bold step in 2007 when we joined the FISU family in Bangkok and met George Killian (FISU President and FIBA President in 1998), we have walked a path filled with triumphs, challenges, and unforgettable memories.
We celebrated victories, endured setbacks, and yet through it all, we remained steadfast partners in destiny. You, with your love for volleyball, and I, with mine for basketball, together we built bridges, empowered athletes, and left a mark on Philippine sports that will endure beyond us.
Robert, your loyalty, wisdom, and friendship have been a gift in my life.
This Christmas, I honor not only the successes we achieved but also the spirit of camaraderie that carried us through every trial.
Truly, we did great, and we made history. As Frank Sinatra said, We Did It Our Way”.
With deep respect and brotherhood,
